At the Lampeter Fair

Every year at the end of September, Farmers and locals come together bringing their home grown vegetables,  animals, crafts, homemade goodies and canned produce to enter and compete for a ribbon and a cash prize at the fair. Local schools use this opportunity to take the kids on a field trip, these pics were taken during Zack’s class trip to the fair, we tagged along. I love how everyone gets excited about the event and show up to see the animals, huge pumpkins, and the ribbon winners. Last year I entered a set of coasters , a popular set in my ‘other’ etsy shop, ” Meadow Tea.” The coasters (see last pic below slideshow) represent a tree in all 4 seasons of the year. It won a ribbon to the delight of my sons :O)

Garlands for Coldwater Creek

Earlier this month I was approached to create pinwheels for the large retail clothing store, Coldwater Creek. They are going  to be use as props for a spring collection photo shoot. I Fed Exed the boxes of pinwheels and as a last minute thought I included a business card which had a picture of one of my heart garlands on it. I got word soon after that they loved the pinwheels and fell in love with the garlands on my business card. An order was put in the next day for 5 (7heart) garlands featuring their colors for spring. I’m not sure how these will be used but I’m excited to see..might have to wait till spring.. In the meantime enjoy these photos of the Coldwater Creek hearts taken the morning I made them and then my hubby shipped them off.

$5.00 Shark costume

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

My son (Zack) LOVES sharks!  I created a shark cake for his 7th birthday (see above pic) and for an upcoming school parade Zachary wanted us to make a shark costume! I was up for the challenge… it being my first costume and all, I was also determined to be cost savvy. I made the costume for under $5.00 all we needed were 4 pieces of felt (the firmer variety) I had scissors, hot glue, and a Grey sweat suit (other items you will need)

The project was SO easy..I had materials to whip up a fishy hoody for my Baby, Benjamin, as well!

We followed a Marthas template for the shark:

Somewhere only we know

Click play!

This is my favorite song.. It reminds me of  Trinidad, where I was born and raised. It’s the southernmost island in the Caribbean. We are planning a trip for Christmas and I cannot wait to go.

Enjoy a few pics of the island. My dad and youngest brother (he’s an amazing pottery artist) are pictured.

I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete
Oh simple thing where have you gone
I’m getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you’re gonna let me in
I’m getting tired and I need somewhere to begin

I came across a fallen tree
I felt the branches of it looking at me
Is this the place we used to love?
Is this the place that I’ve been dreaming of?

Oh simple thing where have you gone
I’m getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you’re gonna let me in
I’m getting tired and I need somewhere to begin

And if you have a minute why don’t we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don’t we go
Somewhere only we know?

Oh simple thing where have you gone
I’m getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you’re gonna let me in
I’m getting tired and I need somewhere to begin

And if you have a minute why don’t we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don’t we go
Somewhere only we know?

This could be the end of everything
So why don’t we go
Somewhere only we know?
